Our FIRST fishing trip

Some friends of ours just bought a house on the Huron River. They invited us over to fish. We ALL caught at least one fish and Chandler caught about eight. None were big enough to keep, but that didn't bother anyone. We had a great time! Jacob fell in the river ...which he says is the highlight of his trip.

Painting...

Alright, this was a month long project for me...that STILL isn't totally complete. The wallpaper in my bathroom was falling off...it looked AWFUL! So, I started tearing it down, which didn't happen very easily..I had to scrape every tiny spot on the wall. Then, the wall was so rough, a friend spent a day with me texturizing the wall. I picked this DARK brown color (the wallpaper was white, so it is a huge difference). I got new towels and towel racks and a new light fixture. It looks great! I love it. I still need to nail the baseboards in and adjust the blinds to the right size....that might be next winter's project.

Happy Easter

3rd Grade MAGIC Show

Chandler got to be the M.C. for his class magic show. He was really cute. The funniest part was when he called for a volunteer and pointed to Jacob and called him up as "the boy in the blue shirt"! He performed 2 magic tricks himself and was a great magician!

Nature Hike

Last week we took advantage of the beautiful spring weather and went on a Nature Walk. They have "Metro-Parks" here that are huge parks. It is so nice to drive just a few minutes and be out of the city, enjoying nature. It was such a nice day. After our walk we flew kites. The kids could all fly their own kite, it was great!

What a BIG girl!!

My friend gave me the idea to buy Brooklyn a new toy when she threw away her binkies. We were at Walmart a few weeks ago and she found the "baby" of her dreams...the "big" baby she calls it. She wanted it so bad, she said she would throw her binkies away. I told her that she would have to throw her binkies away and THEN we would come back and buy the baby. When we got home, she went on her own and gathered up all the binkies she found in her room. She walked into the kitchen (I was peeking in, watching her). She opened the garbage can, put a binky in her mouth and spit it into the garbage. "Bye-bye binky" she said, and then put the next one in her mouth. She spit that one out..."bye-bye binky", and so on until all her binkies were in the garbage. That was all fine and good until 9pm! After about an hour of thinking of EVERYTHING she could think of to get out of bed (did I mention that this was the week we decided to potty-train her?!?!?! ...of course she had to get of bed to go potty, get a drink, get an ice-pack, etc, etc) THEN I hear "I want my binky"!!! I kindly remind her that she chose to throw them away, but that was ok because first thing in the morning we would go back to Walmart and buy the "big baby". I hear about the saddest cry I have ever heard and then she yells, "I don't want the big baby, I want my binky"!!!! She finally cried herself to sleep about 11pm. The next day we bought the baby and as you can see Brooklyn was SO tired, she fell asleep on the way home! So in about a month's time, she lost her crib, diapers and binky! She thinks she is so big...just ask her!!

Playing in the snow

This picture was taken in January, but I really like it, so I will post it now! We didn't have many days this winter to play in the snow. BUT we did have a few COLD COLD weeks. We did have snow on Easter though! Didn't stop Brooklyn and I from wearing our sandals! ...we had to show off our freshly painted toe nails!! :)
