FOREVER!

OK, I know it has been FOREVER since I've posted....I will do better! For now, enjoy the next few posts of things that have been going on the past month.

These pictures are in backward order. It all started in the Emergency Room.....actually let me go back to Saturday afternoon. Jacob was complaining about a stomach ache. Aaron and I bought him Pepto Bismal, told him it was gas pains, and told him to sit on the toilet and try to go the bathroom. Like good parents, we continued on with our plans for the evening. We dropped him off at Daniel and Senta's house to be babysat. We got a phone call about 2 hours later telling us that he had thrown up for the third time. We went from thinking he had gas pains to thinking he had the flu. We took him home and settled him in bed. He had a slight fever and still stomach pains. About 1 am he woke up. The stomach pains were now directly over his right side and he said it felt like someone was sticking a knife into him! Does anyone know what side your appendix is on? Yup, your right side! BUT, Aaron and I don't believe in rushing our kids to the Dr. So, we wait. Sunday morning he wants breakfast..a good sign! But by 11am his stomach pain was still no better and still a slight fever..about 1o1 F. I take him to the ER, where his fever spikes to 104.3F. The ultrasound shows fluid around his inflamed appendix. BUT, is the fluid "normal" OR is it ruptured? We need a CT scan to determine. He FINALLY gets the drink he has been asking for all afternoon. He describes the drink as battery acid mixed with apple juice! Long story short...he has surgery the next morning (Monday) to remove his appendix. We kept asking how he was feeling...he started answering by making BoBo, his monkey show how he was feeling! He was a trooper. He really has a high pain threshold. It was so nice to see how loving and attentive his siblings were to him. It is nice to have family and friends close by who helped out with Chandler and Brooklyn while we were in the hospital with Jacob.

Kindergarten Round up

Brooklyn went to Kindergarten orientation in March. I'll be honest...I was a little teary-eyed when she left the room to go see what Kindergarten was going to be like! I know, I need to get a grip, but I was just thinking about how much I am really going to miss her when she goes to school in September. She is SO excited about it though! Her shirt says Class of 2022! Wow, do I feel old. Her and Nathan (her boyfriend...just ask her!) got T-shirts and backpacks with some books and school supplies. It was a fun morning.

Nature Walk

We went for a Nature Walk to Oakwoods Metro Park.

The kids found a snake!

The Marshmellow Drop

The Marshmallow Drop is one of my kids favorite events at Easter! This year we went with our favorite neighbors...my kids had so much fun!

The helicopter drops marshmallows on the field and the kids collect them and turn them in for a goody bag.

Happy Easter!

One of the things I love having a girl for is ...SHOPPING! I wasn't going to buy her a new Easter dress this year. I was going to do have her wear a hand-me-down! ...that is until I saw this skirt! I saw it at the Children's Place on sale, but $20 was too much for me to spend! I was even talking to my sister and I told her all about this skirt. She thought $20 was a great deal and told me I would regret it if I didn't buy it. So, while the ham was in the oven yesterday Brooklyn and I went shopping. It was $14...glad I waited a few days!! YEAH! I just love getting a good bargain, but I also LOVE this skirt for her.
